These are strange times. (Thanks, Captain Obvious.) We're cooped up at home. Thank G-d we have homes. And food. And toilet paper, I guess. Seems like everyone is freaking out about toilet paper. I happen to live with someone whose parents were Holocaust refugees, so he's always modeled his parents' behavior of keeping the pantry and the bathroom well stocked. We're in good shape.

Will these days turn into weeks, months? The word "apocalyptic" keeps bubbling up in my mind. But I have children and grandchildren, so I'm trying hard not to give the word - or the thoughts associated with it - too much energy.

In the meantime, I'm reading. I just finished Ann Patchett's The Dutch House and have now moved on to the stunningly beautiful On This Earth We Are Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong. Every sentence is like a poem. Words really do matter.

I'm watching TV. I just finished the four-part docuseries about Hillary. (Wow!)

I'm listening to music. For some reason going back and listening to everything from "Rubber Soul" to "Blue" to "Jagged Little Pill" has been comforting. Sometimes Eddie puts on the "Dog Calming" station. It's soothing music for dogs (who knew?) and it's proving to be soothing for us humans, too.

Speaking of dogs, I started a blog about my dog. It's a fun way to keep the grandkids abreast of Charlie's latest adventures. Let me know if you'd like to do a guest post about your beloved pooch!

I'm writing emails to my youngest grandchild who put out a call (through her mother) for penpals. Remember those? I used to put sealing wax on my penpal letters before sticking them in the mailbox (remember those?).

I'm teaching my dog tricks. She'd give you a "high-five" if you could come over.

I'm reaching out to friends with whom I've not spoken for a while.

I'm meditating.

And I'm making art. I started a series of pictures called "What He Said." It seems that making one a day really does help me feel little better.

I'm curious to know what others are doing. How are you passing your days? I'd love to know what you're up to. Feel free to leave comments on FB.
