I don't have to think too hard or go too far to come up with my fave. She's Abbie, my daughter.

The best part of my week is when she sends me new work to look at. I love her style, her ability to tell a story, her sense of spontaneity, her willingness to go deep, her obvious celebration of life and beauty, the way she elevates the ordinary to the extraordinary (notice the tiny bit of fingernail polish that hasn't yet chipped away on the finger of the young cellist) and her sense of the mysterious. I love her use of light, the soft and fragile way it appears and disappears. And the shadows.

She started taking pictures as a young one, just like I did, and she's become my inspiration.

Read a conversation between Abbie and me that was published in Lenscratch in 2020.

Here are just a few of my favorites by my favorite photographer. Enjoy!
