Yesterday we welcomed baby Rohan into our family. What a joyous occasion for me, for his parents (my son and daughter-in-law) and for the rest of the family! We're all so happy and excited. I can't believe my good fortune to now have four grandchildren!
Since his birth, I've been trying to sort through my feelings, which are ones of both joy and grief.
Grief because of who isn't here to celebrate this miraculous event. Eddie would be kvelling beyond belief.
And then, as if on cue, a three-minute video by Jamie Herzog (The Grief Table) popped up on my feed first thing this morning. She considers these sorts of conflicted feelings so beautifully and so perfectly that I'm just going to let her speak.
If you've lost a parent, a child, a friend or a partner and haven't quite figured out where to put your grief when you're lucky enough to have joyful times, I think you might gain some insight by hearing what Herzog has to say. I know I did.
